Just Stop Oil Chaos: 54 Arrested in London Protest

Just Stop Oil protesters sparked chaos in Westminster today, shutting down key traffic routes around Parliament Square. The demo began at 11:00am on Richmond Terrace before marchers moved in on the capital’s political heart.

Protesters Glue Themselves to Ground

At around 12:10pm, demonstrators blocked access to Parliament Square. Five of them took things further, gluing themselves to the ground to cause maximum disruption. Police officers quickly moved in, persuading some to leave, but not before locking down the area.

Mass Arrests as Police Crack Down

The Met rounded up 54 protesters on suspicion of wilful obstruction of the highway. All remain in custody across different London police stations. By 2:30pm, officers had cleared and reopened all routes to Parliament Square, restoring normal traffic flow.

This latest protest caps off a month-long campaign by Just Stop Oil to disrupt Westminster and demand urgent climate action.
