Armed Youths Busted in Chadwell Heath Standoff
Chaos hit Reynolds Road, Chadwell Heath, on Saturday night as police swooped on a group of youths caught fighting with weapons.
Police Chase Ends in Six Arrests
At around 8.15pm on July 11, officers were called to reports of youths armed and clashing. The gang scattered as police arrived, sparking a foot chase. Three suspects were caught close to the scene. Three more were arrested after further enquiries.
All six males are aged between 16 and 20.
Weapons and Drugs Seized
Officers seized machetes, cannabis, balaclavas, and a bottle believed to contain acid from the three arrested nearby. The haul highlights the dangerous mix of weapons and illegal substances on local streets.
Detective Praises Officers’ Bravery
Detective Sergeant Josh Ranghel of the Met’s East Area BCU said: “The police officers responding to this incident were mindful of the reports of weapons being used and were determined to act to take those weapons off our streets.”
“I am sure local residents are grateful officers acted quickly and at personal risk to detain suspects, seize dangerous weapons and hold offenders accountable.”
“I hope the youths in custody reflect on their choices. Carrying weapons and bringing violence to East London will not be tolerated. We are doing all we can to fight this unacceptable violence.”
