Woman Attacked While Walking in Woodland Near Blackfield
A woman was viciously attacked while out walking in woodland off Row Dow, between Roughdown Lane and Kings Copse Road, on Saturday 2 January. The shocking incident took place between 11:20am and 11:50am.
Man Arrested on Suspicion of Attempted Rape
Police have arrested a 30-year-old man from Blackfield on suspicion of attempted rape. He is currently in custody as investigations continue.
Attack Details: Victim Fights Off Attacker
The 31-year-old victim had sat on a fallen tree trunk to eat the lunch she’d just bought. Shortly after, a man approached and sat next to her, making an indecent suggestion. When she told him to leave, he launched an attack.
Thankfully, she fought him off, forcing him to flee. She then alerted police and flagged down nearby dog walkers for help. Police believe many people were in the area at the time.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
The attacker is described as:
- White male, late 20s to early 30s
- About 5’8” to 5’9” tall
- Medium build with pale skin
- Wearing a dark beanie, dark top, blue jeans, trainers, and a dark fabric mask
- May have injuries including an eye injury and scratches on his face
