Police raid huge cannabis farm in Brighton mansion
Brighton cops have uncovered a massive cannabis operation, seizing over 500 plants across a five-storey house.
Massive drug haul hidden in every room
Officers from Brighton and Hove’s Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU) swooped on a Dyke Road property last Wednesday (November 9). Acting on tip-offs from locals suspicious of activity, they forced entry and found cannabis crops in nearly every part of the building.
The haul covered the basement, loft, and all three floors in between. The plants ranged from mature to newly started saplings. The gang even had setups ready to grow more.
Empty property but investigation ongoing
No one was found inside at the time, but police are hunting suspects linked to the operation. The scale of the farm highlights organised drug dealing in the area.
Sergeant warns of dangers of cannabis trade
“Cannabis is a harmful, banned substance that contributes to the illegal drug trade; a practice that sows devastation among our communities,” said Sergeant Mark Robinson of Brighton and Hove’s TEU.
“The sale of controlled substances goes hand-in-hand with violence, exploitation and addiction, fuelling wider criminality that spreads into all corners of society.
“We will continue to be relentless in our pursuit of perpetrators while working with our partners to address the root causes of this behaviour and safeguard those most at risk of harm.”
