Deputy Chief Constable Urges Caution Ahead of Christmas
DCC Paul Mills stressed the importance of sticking to public health rules as Christmas approaches. He said,
“At the moment both Wiltshire and Swindon remain in Tier 2 restrictions. Although the Government will review the Tiers this week, we don’t know what the local situation will be.”
He added,
“Regardless of Government announcements, local health officials say we must stay vigilant. We’ll be allowed festive bubbles, but please do all you can to avoid unnecessary contact leading up to Christmas. Stick to the basics — hands, space, and face — to keep the virus in check.”
Police Commissioner Praises Wiltshire for Sticking to the Rules
Police and Crime Commissioner Angus Macpherson chimed in:
“Swindon and Wiltshire have shown top-notch compliance throughout the pandemic. The latest figures prove it.”
He urged residents to keep their guard up despite vaccine optimism:
“While the vaccine offers hope, we must stay focused and keep protecting our most vulnerable until it’s rolled out nationwide.”
