Shock Assault in Newark Market Square – Police Hunt Masked Attacker
Victim Pushed and Kicked in Broad Daylight
Police are on the hunt after a horrifying attack on a man in his late sixties in Newark’s market square. The victim was pushed over and then kicked in the head while lying on the ground. The savage assault unfolded just seconds after a masked cyclist nearly ran him down on Church Street.
Masked Duo Spotted at Scene
The suspect wore a black and grey hoodie under a balaclava, riding a bike. He was not alone. Another man, also masked and dressed in a dark grey tracksuit, was seen with him during the attack. Both suspects have vanished since the incident which took place around 3.40pm on Friday 25 October.
Police Release Images and Plea for Help
Sergeant Greg Saxelby of Nottinghamshire Police condemned the violence, saying:
“The level of aggression shown in this incident was completely unacceptable and simply won’t be tolerated here in Newark and Sherwood.”
“Thankfully, the victim wasn’t seriously hurt despite being pushed over and kicked.”
“We urgently want to find those responsible. If you recognise these men or this is you, come forward now.”
