Suspicious Fire Ravages Hay Bales in Kent
Kent Police are on the lookout after a suspicious fire broke out in Wye, near Ashford. The blaze, which began around 10.20pm on Sunday, 9 March 2025, saw hay bales deliberately set alight on land along Olantigh Road. The inferno also caused criminal damage to a nearby unoccupied caravan, smashing windows and destroying crockery.
Thanks to a swift response from Kent Fire and Rescue Service, the fire was quickly put out. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Teenagers Spotted Near Scene: Police Want to Talk
Officers launched a full investigation, reviewing CCTV footage in the area. Their sights are now set on two teenage boys spotted near the scene at the time.
- Suspect One: White, 15-17 years old, brown hair, wearing a grey hooded top, white T-shirt, blue jeans, and white trainers.
- Suspect Two: White, 15-17 years old, ginger curly hair, dressed in a black gilet, white T-shirt, grey trousers, and grey trainers.
Police Plea: Witnesses Urged to Step Forward
We want to hear from anyone who saw the incident or has CCTV or dashcam footage that could help,” said a Kent Police spokesperson. “If you saw two individuals matching these descriptions, please get in touch.”
