Thief Runs From Witness After Breaking Into Car in Bury Hill

Early Morning Break-In

Police are hunting for witnesses after a vehicle was broken into and a wallet stolen in Bury Hill, near Pulborough. The crime happened at around 6:50am on Thursday, September 8, when a blue MG ZS was targeted.

Suspect Fled After Being Spotted

The suspect, seen wearing a dark navy hooded top and jeans, was chased off by a quick-thinking witness who spotted the theft in progress.

Man Found Injured Matches Suspect Description

While officers responded, they found a man walking up Bury Hill with facial injuries matching the suspect’s look. The injured man claimed he had been assaulted and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Arrest Made

A 39-year-old man from Bognor Regis was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods. He has since been released under investigation.
