Man left fighting for life after vicious punch in Rochdale town centre
Just after 3am on Sunday, February 27, chaos erupted on Packer Street when a man in his 30s was found unconscious and battered. The victim was punched before collapsing to the ground, sparking a police investigation.
Two arrested for brutal assault in early hours
Greater Manchester Police swooped quickly, arresting two men aged 23 and 25 on suspicion of assault. Both remain in custody as detectives hunt for witnesses.
Detective issues urgent appeal for witnesses
“This assault has left the victim fighting for his life. It is our hope that he makes a full recovery,” said Detective Inspector Matthew Hamer of GMP’s Rochdale district.
“Though two suspects are in custody, our investigation is ongoing. We urge anyone who was out that night—especially taxi drivers or members of the public with dashcam or mobile footage—to come forward.”
