Brutal Hit-and-Run in Solihull Sends Grandad Flying into Ditch
Shock in Warings Green Road, Solihull, on Saturday 7 May just before 4.30pm. An 81-year-old cyclist was viciously rammed by a small white car, flung into a ditch and left battered with serious injuries.
Three Masked Men Jump Out – One Steals Bike
The vanishing villains didn’t stop there. Three masked men jumped from the car. One sped off on the victim’s blue Trek FS4 Firefly bike – a prized ride he’d only bought a week earlier.
The elderly man suffered severe bruising to his legs and face, plus a broken wrist. He needed hospital treatment, but escaped worse harm.
Police Hunt Thugs and Stolen Bike
Detective Constable David Spencer said:
“The victim initially overtook the white car but shortly afterwards it pulled up in front of him and three men wearing masks got out. He tried to cycle off but the car approached and he was rammed into a ditch. This is a despicable offence.”
Police are now scouring CCTV footage and appealing for help. They want anyone offered the stolen bike for sale, or who knows someone with a similar blue Trek FS4 Firefly, to come forward.
