Hit-and-Run Shocker in Waterlooville

Police are hunting witnesses after a cyclist was knocked down by a van in Waterlooville – and the driver fled the scene.

The crash happened around 4.30pm on 21 April on Maurepas Way, right near Asda.

A 56-year-old man from portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth was cycling south when a white Mercedes Sprinter van slammed into him before speeding off without stopping.

Luckily, the victim only suffered minor injuries and was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital as a precaution.

Driver on the Run

The van driver is described as a white male, 40-50 years old, with a bald head.

Police want to hear from anyone who was nearby or has dashcam footage capturing the moments before the crash.
