Elderly Man Dies After Hit-and-Run in Tesco Car Park

Tragic Crash at Coppetts Centre

Police were called at 4.50pm on Saturday, 24 September after reports of a collision between a van and an elderly pedestrian in the busy Tesco car park at the Coppetts Centre, N11. Emergency services, including London Ambulance and Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene.

Man in His 80s Succumbs to Injuries

The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, was taken to hospital but sadly died the following day, Sunday 25 September. His family have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers.

Hit-and-Run Driver Still at Large

The van involved failed to stop and fled the scene. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop. Both have since been released while enquiries continue to track down the driver.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Inspector Ian Watson said: “The car park was extremely busy with people going about their day when this collision occurred. If you saw anything, or have dash cam or mobile footage, please get in touch.”
