Tragic Christmas Eve: Police Car Hits Woman – She Dies at Scene
At around 8.10pm on Saturday, 24th December, emergency services rushed to Sheil Road after a marked police vehicle collided with a pedestrian. The victim, 22-year-old Rachael Louise Moore, sadly died from her injuries.
Family Shares Heartbreaking Tribute
Rachael’s family released a statement mourning their loss:
“Rachael Louise Moore, aged 22, cherished daughter of Alison and Ian, sister to Ben, and beloved granddaughter of Nana Sue. Partner to Jack and a caring friend to many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family kindly asks for privacy at this incredibly difficult time.”
Official Investigation Underway
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson of the MATRIX Serious Collision Investigation Unit confirmed the probe is ongoing.
“We are assisting the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which has launched an investigation into this tragic incident. Our sincere condolences go out to Rachael’s devastated family, who are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.”
Witness Appeal
DS Timpson added a plea for help to piece together what happened:
