Drug Dealer Nabbed with Half a Kilo of Coke in Minicab Sting
A drug dealer caught red-handed with half a kilogram of high-purity cocaine, a stash of cash, and a knife has been locked up. Shihab Elamir, 24, from Carlton Park Avenue, Merton, was sentenced to six years and two months in jail at Kingston Crown Court on 19 March.
Massive Haul Found After M40 Minicab Stop
Elamir was a passenger in a white Toyota Prius stopped by officers on the M40 near Kingston on 13 February. Police seized around 500 grams of cocaine, split into four wrapped blocks, hidden in the car’s door pocket, Elamir’s jacket, and a bum bag in the boot. They also found a small bag of cannabis, a spring-operated lock knife, and £4,153.86 in cash scattered around the vehicle and on his person.
Three mobile phones linked to Elamir were recovered, which he attempted to chuck around the car before being caught. The minicab driver was arrested alongside Elamir but later released pending further investigation.
Criminal Behaviour Order and Cash Forfeiture
Alongside his sentence, Elamir was slapped with a 14-year Criminal Behaviour Order. He’s restricted to owning just one mobile phone, which must be registered in his name. The judge also ordered the confiscation of £4,153.86 and the destruction of the seized drugs and knife.
Further Raids Uncover More Class A Drugs
Police searched an East Molesey address linked to Elamir, discovering several ounces of crack cocaine, heroin, electronic scales, and a pestle and mortar—likely used to prepare class A drugs.
Elamir gave a no comment interview and was charged the day after his arrest. Detective Constable Stuart Hobkirk, lead investigator, said: “The evidence was so overwhelming, Elamir had no choice but to plead guilty. Dealing class A drugs devastates vulnerable people and local communities. The Met remains committed to ridding London’s streets of illegal drugs and bringing dealers to justice.”
