Brits Set for Warmest Christmas Day in Over 100 Years
This Christmas, forget the icy chill! Forecasters predict a balmy, record-breaking Christmas Day with temperatures climbing as high as 14°C – just a tad below the 1920 record of 15°C.
Damp and Windy with a Sunny Twist
The UK is bracing for a soggy, blustery Christmas Day, with heavy rain expected across Wales and strong winds battering several regions. But there’s a silver lining: after Christmas lunch, skies could brighten up, perfect for a festive stroll.
Meteorologist Liam Eslick warned, “It’s looking like a damp picture across the UK, heavy rain possibly in Wales. Past Christmas lunch, there could be some breaks if people are looking to go out and about. Boxing Day is probably going to be the best day if people are looking to go for a walk.”
Storm Warnings Ahead – Watch Out on the Roads!
- Yellow wind warnings in Wales and Scotland on December 24
- Gusts of 40-50 mph expected east of the Pennines, with some hitting 60-70 mph
- Potential travel disruption, especially for high-sided vehicles
- Heavy, persistent rain in Wales with up to 80mm on high ground
No White Christmas – But a Surprisingly Mild One
Snow is mostly confined to Scotland this year, so England’s dreaming of a mild Christmas instead. The Met Office is keeping a close eye on conditions, ready to update as the big day draws near. One thing’s clear: this festive season is set to be warmer than many have seen in a lifetime.
