Man Assaulted Near The Bridgeway Centre in The Meadows
A 40-year-old man was attacked near The Bridgeway Centre in The Meadows on Sunday evening. He managed to get himself to hospital after the assault, where doctors treated a serious arm wound.
Victim’s Injuries Not Life-Threatening
Fortunately, police say the victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-altering. However, the attack has sparked an ongoing investigation.
Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Suspect
Officers launched a full inquiry into the assault, which took place between 8pm and 8:30pm on 2 April 2023. They are reviewing CCTV footage and followed several leads.
In the early hours of Tuesday, a 19-year-old man was arrested in the St Ann’s area on suspicion of wounding with intent and is currently being questioned.
Police Call for Witnesses to Come Forward
Detective Sergeant Alan Prentice said: “This was a nasty assault which resulted in the victim needing hospital treatment for a serious wound to his arm. Violence of this nature will not be tolerated on our streets, and we will always act swiftly and robustly to investigate reports.
While we have now arrested a suspect in connection with this incident our inquiries are continuing. I would urge anyone who saw what happened, or who may have recorded CCTV or dashcam footage which could assist us with our investigation, to please get in touch.”
