Man Arrested After EasyJet Flight Declares Emergency at Glasgow Airport
A 41-year-old man was hauled off an easyJet flight at Glasgow Airport this morning after causing a disturbance onboard. The drama unfolded on Flight EZY609, which was flying from Luton to Glasgow.
Emergency Squawk Sparks Panic
Just minutes before touchdown at 8.20am, the pilots of the Airbus A319 (registration G-EZAN) triggered a 7700 emergency squawk code — a distress signal signalling an in-flight emergency. The plane was swiftly directed to a remote stand on arrival, where Police Scotland officers boarded and arrested the disruptive passenger.
Police Confirm Arrest
“We received a report of a man causing a disturbance on a flight arriving in Glasgow around 8.20am on Sunday, 27 July 2025. A 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident,” confirmed a Police Scotland spokesperson.
No injuries were reported. The exact details of the disturbance remain under investigation.
easyJet Commends Crew’s Quick Action
easyJet praised its cabin crew for handling the situation professionally. “Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival in Glasgow, where they boarded the aircraft and removed a passenger due to their behaviour onboard,” read the statement.
“easyJet’s crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers is not compromised at any time. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority.”
The flight proceeded with disembarking normally after the incident was resolved.
No Airport Delays Despite Incident
The emergency squawk 7700 is reserved for serious emergencies needing immediate assistance, explaining the swift police response. Though the emergency code raised concern online, authorities later confirmed the situation was under control.
Despite the drama, Glasgow Airport reported no delays or disruptions to other flights.
