Gosport Armed Robbery: Police Hunt Masked Gunman

Police are intensifying their probe into a brazen armed robbery at the Grande Wine Store on Palmyra Road, Gosport. They’ve released a CCTV image as part of a fresh appeal for information.

Gunman Strikes Just After 9:30pm

The shocking incident unfolded shortly after 9:30pm on Sunday, March 27. A staff member was threatened by a man, face hidden, wielding what appeared to be a handgun. The robber made off with £340 from the till. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Suspect Description

  • White male
  • Between 6ft and 6ft 3ins tall
  • Skinny build
  • Wore a black padded raincoat with hood up
  • Dark trousers, black ski-style gloves, and a mask

Police Appeal to Store Visitors

“I’d like to thank those people who have contacted us since our original appeal was issued,” said DC Julie Way. “We are still not linking this to any other reports or incidents in the area. The premises were targeted at night when it was very wet and windy and not many people were out and about. “We are still trying to establish if the weapon seen was a genuine handgun or an imitation firearm. Thankfully no-one was injured in this incident. “I’d like to trace a man and a woman who used the store shortly beforehand and who may have seen what happened and anyone who may have found discarded clothing in the area.”

Anyone with information is urged to come forward as police continue their hunt for the masked robber.
