Police Discover Remains of Mohammed Subhani in Beaconsfield Woodland

Detectives investigating the chilling disappearance and murder of Mohammed Shah Subhani have uncovered human remains in a woodland near Hedgerley Lane, Beaconsfield. Shah’s family has been informed and are being supported by liaison officers during this devastating time.

Grim Discovery Marks Major Break in Murder Probe

Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, leading the investigation, said: “Today we confirm the recovery of Mohammed Shah Subhani’s remains. I met with his family to deliver this awful news—something I hoped never to do. Shah was loved by many and had so much to live for. Not only was he murdered, but he was also denied a dignified burial.”

DCI McHugh believes the killer(s) hoped Shah’s body would never be found. He described the area as remote and likely known only to a select few, with challenging terrain that has forced police to build bridges and divert water as they continue their painstaking search.

The woodland where the remains were found is isolated, unlikely to be stumbled upon by chance. Police found spent shotgun cartridges in the area; while unconnected to Shah’s death, officers want to hear from anyone who used the area around or after 7th May.

Suspicious Black BMW Spotted Near Crime Scene

For the first time, police revealed a stolen black BMW X5 with cloned plates (YC67 MFY) was seen loitering near Hedgerley Lane days after Shah vanished on 7 May. The vehicle, stolen from Farnborough in February, was recovered in Hounslow on 3 August.

DCI McHugh urged witnesses to come forward: “We want to know who was using this vehicle, especially around 7th May and the weeks after. Any suspicious activity or vehicles, no matter how small, could be crucial.”

The Last Movements of Mohammed Shah Subhani

  • On 7 May, Shah visited Acton police station at around 1:45pm, possibly expecting to collect £3,800—but didn’t. He may have received number plates and two mobile phones instead.
  • At 3pm, he travelled to Hounslow, with CCTV capturing his Audi Q3 near Whitton Road at 3:17pm.
  • Shah arrived at a Hounslow business on Derby Road at 3:19pm and left at 3:47pm – but was never seen leaving the premises.

Police are also investigating a blue Range Rover Evoque with false plates seen nearby at the same time, which later appeared in Ilford but has since vanished.

Shooting Incident and Ongoing Appeals

Shah’s car was recovered in Camden on 19 June, riddled with bullet holes. Police believe the shooting happened after his death and was unrelated to the murder.

DCI McHugh added: “We believe people with vital information are still silent, perhaps out of misplaced loyalty or fear. Your silence is only causing more pain to Shah’s family. Please come forward, your tip could bring justice.”

A hefty £20,000 reward remains for information leading to arrests and convictions.

Family Plea for Justice

Shah’s sister, Quirat, said: “We kept faith that our beloved brother would come home. Finding him in an abandoned woodland 15 miles away shattered us. Someone maliciously killed him and dumped his body to be forgotten. Someone must know something—please help us get justice.”

Arrests Made, Investigation Ongoing

  • Multiple arrests between July and December, including on suspicion of murder, kidnapping, conspiracy, and perverting the course of justice.
  • Some suspects released under investigation or on bail pending further inquiries.
