“At approximately 2pm police responded to a stabbing near London Bridge. Armed officers shot the male suspect who died at the scene,” said Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu.
“Multiple people were injured, and we will provide updates on their condition when possible. Due to reports that the suspect may have had an explosive device strapped to him, specialist officers attended and established cordons to protect the public.”
“We now believe the device was a hoax. The incident has been declared terrorist-related, and the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command is leading the investigation. We are keeping an open mind about any motive and urge the public to remain vigilant.”
