Tragedy in Charlton: Isabelle Stewart Dies After Horrific Incident

Shock at Atlas Gardens

Emergency services rushed to Atlas Gardens just after 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18. Despite their efforts, Isabelle Stewart, a local Charlton resident, tragically died shortly after they arrived on the scene.

Investigation Underway

Formal identification is pending, but police have confirmed the victim is Isabelle Stewart. Her family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers during this heartbreaking time.

A post-mortem examination began on April 20 to establish the exact cause of death.

Suspects Arrested and Released on Bail

Authorities arrested a 23-year-old man on April 19, suspicious of causing death by hazardous driving. The following day, four more men — including two aged 23, one 28, and another 31 — were detained on suspicion of causing death by reckless driving and violent disturbance.

All five individuals have since been released on bail pending further investigation.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie said, “First and foremost, my thoughts are with Isabelle’s family and friends. Our family liaison officers are supporting them during this difficult time, and we are doing everything possible to determine what happened to their loved one.”

He added, “We have made significant progress, but we still need to hear from anyone who knows what happened. I’m especially interested in anyone who saw a white van or truck being driven erratically in Charlton between 10 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday night.”

Police urge anyone with information to call 101 referencing CAD 9939/18Apr. They stress there is no wider risk to the community but want to bring clarity to this devastating case.
