Youth Chaos Erupts in York: PCSO Assaulted Amid Disorder

A mob of youths caused trouble on Askham Lane, Westfield Place, and Westfield Park, York, between 5.30pm and 6.45pm last night. Police rushed to the scene, but chaos broke out—resulting in a PCSO being assaulted. Multiple public order offences and anti-social behaviour were reported during the incident.

Police Launch Full Investigation

North Yorkshire Police are now investigating the disturbing events. Officers are reviewing body-worn camera footage to identify those responsible. Senior Commander Superintendent Mark Khan condemned the violence:

“This type of behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated on the streets of York. I am appalled that a member of police staff was assaulted during this incident. This member of staff is now receiving support and we will be taking swift action to deal with those responsible.”

“Once again, I would urge members of the local community to work with the police and pass on any information that could assist with our live investigation immediately.”
