Police Raid Edwinstowe Home: Massive Cannabis Grow Uncovered
Officers swooped on a property in Clipstone Road, Edwinstowe, after reports of illegal Class B drugs being cultivated inside. Their tip-off proved spot-on.
Over 40 Cannabis Plants Found Grown Indoors
The Newark and Sherwood Operation Reacher team discovered rows of more than 40 mature cannabis plants thriving in a small, grimy room on Monday, 17 April. The electricity supply had been illegally bypassed to power the grow, raising serious fire risks.
Shocking Living Conditions Revealed
Next to the cannabis crop, officers found a tiny adjoining room where the grower was clearly living in appalling conditions. A makeshift bed made from a wooden plank balanced on stools was surrounded by rat traps in a cramped, dirty space.
All the plants were seized and destroyed, along with the equipment used to run the illegal operation.
Police Warn of Dangers and Exploitation
PC Al Johnson of Nottinghamshire Police’s Operation Reacher team said: “After receiving intelligence about drug activity, we found and dismantled a cannabis grow. This highlights the terrible conditions people growing cannabis often endure.”
“Sadly, these operations often exploit vulnerable individuals, benefiting others financially.”
“Cannabis production is far from victimless. It attracts trouble, links to other crimes, and creates a serious fire hazard due to electricity theft.”
“We urge the public to report suspicious activity by calling 101.”
