Speed Crackdown! Five Fined and One Arrested in Headcorn
Police have clamped down hard on speeding in Mill Bank, Headcorn. On the morning of Wednesday 18 August 2021, officers from the Community Policing Team and the Road Safety Unit carried out intensive speed checks.
Fast and Furious: Eleven Pulled, Five Reported
Eleven drivers were stopped. Five were reported for tearing past the 40 mph speed limit. Four others received firm words of advice to slow down.
But it wasn’t just speeders who got caught. A 29-year-old Maidstone man was arrested on suspicion of driving while over the drug limit.
Strong Words from Police Sergeant Tony Nolan
“Local officers took action after concerns were raised at a recent community meeting about cars refusing to slow down entering the village,” said Sergeant Nolan of the Maidstone Task Force.
“Children, pensioners and other pedestrians regularly cross the road in Headcorn’s centre. Drivers have a duty to keep everyone safe.”
“Today’s enforcement sends a brutal message — speed recklessly and face the consequences.”
“Motorists should expect more crackdowns in rural areas soon.”
Drivers, watch your speed – the cops are tightening the net!
