Masked Thief Swipes £50 at Knifepoint in Spar Shop Raid
Early this morning, a daring knifepoint robbery shook the Spar store on St Mary’s Road. At around 8.10am, a man wearing a hoodie and balaclava waited for shoppers to leave before demanding cash from two store assistants.
He made off with roughly £50 from the till before jumping into a black car parked on nearby Cuthbert Road. Witnesses reported the getaway driver sped off the wrong way down the street, causing alarm.
Police Step Up Patrols After Bold Morning Heist
Detective Sergeant Rich Gibson said: “Thankfully, incidents like this are rare, and the two staff members were unharmed. However, we take every robbery seriously.”
Officers have boosted their presence in the area and are hunting for the culprit. “If you saw the robbery or a car driving the wrong way along Cuthbert Road this morning, please get in touch,” Gibson urged.
