Young Woman Shot Dead in Liverpool Backyard
Just after midnight on Sunday, 28-year-old Ashley Dale was found wounded in a backyard on Leinster Road, Old Swan, Liverpool. Despite immediate medical help and hospital treatment, she was later pronounced dead.
Gunshot Wound Not Meant for Victim, Say Police
A Home Office post-mortem confirmed Ashley died from a single gunshot wound. Merseyside Police believe she was not the intended target. Ashley, a Knowsley Council environmental health graduate, was an innocent caught in a shocking incident.
CCTV Footage Captures Key Moments Before Shooting
Police revealed that a car entered Leinster Road around 12.30 a.m., about 10 minutes before the shooting. Officers urge anyone who was driving, riding in the car, or walking nearby to come forward. Several pedestrians were in the area, reportedly after a boxing match ended.
“Our officers are working around the clock to investigate this appalling incident that tragically claimed the life of a young woman,” said Detective Chief Inspector Cath Cummings.
“If you were in the area between 12.20 and 12.40 a.m., near Leinster Road or Prescot Road by the Navigator pub, please get in touch. Taxi and delivery drivers with dashcam footage are especially urged to contact us.”
