Multiple Cars Torched in Thornhill Arson Spree

Police are hunting for witnesses after a spate of car fires rocked Thornhill in the early hours of Wednesday, 10 July. Flames broke out just before 1.30am on Gerard Crescent and struck again around 2.30am on Napier Road.

Vehicles Left Totally Burnt Out

The blaze started with a silver Ford ablaze on Gerard Crescent. The fire quickly spread, engulfing a silver Peugeot 206 and a black BMW parked nearby. Over on Napier Road, a silver Lexus was set on fire, which then spread to a Land Rover Freelander. Thankfully, no one was inside any of the vehicles at the time.

All cars were completely destroyed. Police are treating the incidents as deliberate arson and will be canvassing local residents today for any leads.

Police Plea: “Tell Us What You Saw”

Inspector Sharman Wicks from southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton East Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Officers will be going door to door today. If you’re out or missed us, please contact us if you saw or heard anything suspicious late last night or early this morning.”

“We know the financial and emotional toll this takes on car owners and neighbours. Luckily, no one was hurt, but these fires could have put lives at risk. It’s crucial we find whoever is responsible.”

Southampton Group Commander Dan Tasker added: “Deliberately starting fires is arson and the consequences can be severe. We urge residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity to police immediately via 101 or 999.”
