Police Crack Down on Disturbing Paignton Attack Video – Warn Public to Stop Sharing

Shocking Assault Caught on Camera

Police have launched an urgent investigation after a violent attack in Queen Elizabeth Drive, Paignton, was caught on video and widely shared online. The footage shows a young person repeatedly punching a seated man in the arm and head outside the Great Parks Community Centre, sparking outrage across the local community.

Police Urge Public to Stop Sharing Video

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed officers responded to the incident last week and have spoken to everyone involved. However, police are warning the public to stop circulating the video. It contains personal information and could jeopardise the ongoing investigation.

“Posting personal information onto social media can potentially put other people at significant risk of harm, and we request the details are taken down with immediate effect,” said a Paignton Police spokesperson.

Officers clarified that “spoken to” is a general term used due to data protection laws and the suspect’s age, and it does not mean the investigation is complete.

Social Media Groups Clamp Down

The video’s spread triggered fresh calls for justice, with locals angry about the lack of swift action against the attacker. In response, admins of the Facebook group Torbay Help Hub announced strict rules banning posts sharing the video or related images, threatening content removal and member bans.

“We understand and share the frustration and anger that this happened,” the group stated. “But we cannot jeopardise the investigation and risk the attacker walking free because of social media posts.”

What’s Next?

The incident has sparked wider debates on youth violence, community safety, and the dangers viral content poses to police work. Police continue their enquiries but have not confirmed if any charges have been filed.
