Manhunt Underway After Attempted Rape Shake-Up in Gillingham
Kent Police have launched a major operation in Gillingham, hunting a man linked to a shocking attempted rape in the early hours today.
Attack Near Arden and Jeffery Streets
The chilling incident happened between 1am and 2am near the corner of Arden Street and Jeffery Street. The suspect allegedly approached a woman from behind. The victim wasted no time reporting the attack, sparking a rapid police response.
Suspect Description
Officers are after a black male, medium build, thought to be in his late 30s or early 40s. He had black hair, a beard, and wore a black hooded top and trousers at the time.
Police Urge Local Help
Detective Chief Inspector Kath Way of Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate is leading the probe. She said:
“Officers are in the area making further inquiries. We know these reports stir up alarm but we want to reassure the community we’re doing everything to catch the offender.”
She added a plea for witnesses:
“If you have private CCTV, doorbell footage, or dashcam clips and haven’t spoken to us yet, please come forward.”
