High-Speed Police Chase Ends in Head-On Crash in South London
A wild police chase involving a top-spec Land Rover Discovery ended in disaster on a South London road. The getaway driver ploughed head-on into a Vauxhall Corsa, leaving the innocent motorist with a broken arm.
Two-Hour Pursuit Turns Dangerous
The drama kicked off at 8.20pm on Thursday in Crayford, when officers in a marked car signalled for a suspected vehicle to stop near Shearwood Crescent. Instead, the driver floored it, sparking a two-hour high-speed chase.
The rogue motorist didn’t just speed away – he recklessly drove the wrong way up the dual carriageway on 1 Road. The pursuit came to a terrifying end on Perry Street, where the Land Rover smashed straight into a Vauxhall Corsa.
Victims Hurt, Suspect Arrested
The Corsa’s driver, a woman believed to be in her forties, was rushed to hospital with a broken arm. Another passenger also received treatment. Thankfully, their injuries were not life-threatening.
The 18-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital as a precaution before police custody. Officers found stolen number plates, a sizable knife, and a 1 club in the Land Rover’s driver-side door pocket.
Investigation Underway
Police continue to investigate the reckless chase and collision. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been notified, as per routine.
