Police Tape Seals Off Scene After Morning Robbery
Southsea’s Richmond Place public toilets are under lockdown after a 79-year-old pensioner was robbed at around 10:30am this Sunday. Police cordoned off the area near Waitrose with tape and posted a lone officer to guard the scene, which forensics experts have been combing for clues.
Pensioner Snatched from Behind and Wallet Stolen
The victim was grabbed from behind while using the toilets next to Marmion Road. His wallet, carrying £60, was stolen from his back pocket. Despite the shock, he was not seriously harmed in the attack.
Suspect Description Released
Witnesses spotted a white man in his forties fleeing the scene. The suspect stood around 6ft tall and was dressed all in black, seen running down a nearby lane.
A police spokesperson said: “A 79-year-old man was grabbed from behind in the public toilets near Waitrose, Marmion Rd, Southsea at around 10:30am this morning.”
