Early morning burglary shocks Southampton student house!
At around 5.40am on June 27, a brazen thief broke into a property on Tennyson Road, Southampton. Three female students living there caught the intruder red-handed stealing a laptop from an upstairs bedroom.
Thief Escapes with Valuables Despite Brave Students’ Efforts
Although the students chased him out, the crook still managed to nick a Fossil watch, an iPhone, and several student IDs before fleeing. The stolen laptop was later found a short distance up the road.
Suspect Description and Police Appeal
- Man in his 20s
- Wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and top
- Black hat
Detective Elaine Rogers urged the public: “Do you recognise the man in the image? We want to hear from you.”
Police Seek Witnesses to Crack Case
Officers also want to speak to a white, skinny, bald man wearing a dark jacket and carrying a black rucksack. He was seen in the neighbourhood during the incident and spoke to one of the students searching for the suspect in her car.
“Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious that morning should come forward,” said PSI Rogers. She warned residents to secure their homes and close all ground-floor windows day and night.
