The drama unfolded when a man forced his way into a woman’s garden. She grabbed a baseball bat and struck him on the back as he pushed past. The intruder claimed he was being chased by police.
Roof Rampage Leaves Thousands in Damage
The 26-year-old, believed to be drunk and recently arguing with his partner, clambered onto a rooftop and hurled slates and tiles at officers and vehicles below. Neighbours now face a hefty repair bill after massive holes were smashed into the roof.
Police arrived at 1:40am, setting up a cordon and calling in negotiators, patrol teams, and the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service. The standoff lasted until around 5am before the man was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm.

The man remains in custody. Police say extensive damage was done to vehicles in the area.
