Blaze Breaks Out in Southampton Flat – Roof Collapses

Fire crews from Southsea, Cosham, Portchester, and Havant raced to a fire at a first-floor flat above a shop on Fawcett Road at 9.45pm last night.

Smoke and flames were pouring out when firefighters arrived. The fire quickly spread into the roof, which later collapsed.

No Injuries as Neighbours Evacuate

Thankfully, no one was hurt. Nearby residents managed to get out safely before the blaze worsened.

Police officers from Hampshire Constabulary coordinated on site, while the electricity company cut the power externally—necessary after the roof gave way.

Firefighters Battle Blaze Through the Night

  • Sixteen breathing apparatus sets were used
  • Hose reels, jets, and an aerial ladder tackled the flames
  • Relief crews from Hightown and Fareham stepped in during the night

The “stop message” came at 6.07am, with crews returning hours later to check for hotspots.
