Independent Carers Face PPE Shortage Crisis in Sussex
Self-employed carers across Sussex are battling to get hold of vital PPE as supplies run dangerously low. Margaret Dodé Angel, from Sussex Support Services, is scrambling to source aprons, gloves, masks, and hand sanitiser for those on the frontline of home care.
Carers Struggle with Sky-High Prices and No Supplies
Margaret reveals desperate calls from carers charging round-the-clock to support vulnerable people. Many are being hit with sky-high prices or simply can’t find basic protective gear anywhere. “These carers visit several individuals daily, but being independent means they’re falling through the cracks without access to PPE,” she said.
Margaret Scrambles to Deliver Emergency PPE
Margaret has already helped some carers with the limited stock she had on hand and expects a new batch of gloves, aprons, and hand gel this Friday. She’s urging anyone who can contribute PPE or support to come forward, as the demand grows daily.
