Pregnant Woman Fatally Stabbed in Croydon Horror
Detectives are probing a chilling crime after a 26-year-old pregnant woman was stabbed to death in Croydon. Emergency services raced to a home on Raymead Avenue, Thornton Heath, at 3.30am on Saturday 29 June following reports of a woman in cardiac arrest.
Tragic Scene at Residential Address
Officers and paramedics found the victim suffering multiple stab wounds. She was about eight months pregnant. Despite desperate efforts, she died at the scene.
Miraculously, her baby was delivered there by paramedics and rushed to hospital. The newborn’s gender remains unconfirmed and is currently in a critical condition.
Man Arrested as Police Launch Murder Inquiry
A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and is now in custody. Police say they are keeping an open mind on the motive.
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Norman, leading the Met’s Homicide and Serious Crime Command, described the case as “horrific.”
“This is a horrific incident in which a young mother has lost her life and her child is critically ill. Our sympathies go out to her devastated family, who are being supported by specially trained officers. We ask the public to respect their privacy at this terrible time.”
