Masked axe-wielding thugs try to rob security guard in broad daylight in Mossley Hill
Daylight Axe Attack Outside Barclays
Detectives are hunting for two masked men who launched a terrifying attempted robbery in Mossley Hill on September 14. The pair, armed with an axe, targeted a security guard outside Barclays bank on Allerton Road just after 2.30pm.
Robbery Foiled by Quick-Thinking Guard
The attackers demanded the driver’s key to access a cash box inside a van. But the sharp guard slammed the vehicle shut, scuppering their heist. The thugs then ran off, jumping into a black Audi parked nearby on Garthdale Road. A third accomplice was waiting behind the wheel.
Police Appeal for Help With CCTV Images
Fortunately, the guard escaped without injury. Now, cops have released CCTV shots of two suspects they believe can crack the case. Detective Inspector Christopher Carlin condemned the brazen attack:
“To target and threaten someone with a weapon who was simply carrying out their job in our community is dangerous and unacceptable behaviour. We are determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice.”
