A frantic call sparked a massive emergency response at Samphire Hoe on Saturday morning – but it was all a false alarm.

Public Spotting Sparks Rescue Rush

At around 8am, a dog walker claimed to have seen a pair of feet and a head about 30 metres down near the cafe. Alarmed staff quickly calmed the woman and raised the alarm.

Lifeboats, Coastguard & Police Rush to Scene

Two ambulances from the South East Coast Ambulance Service, Dover RNLI All-Weather Lifeboat, Coastguard Search and Rescue teams from Dover and Folkestone, plus Kent Police, were scrambled to the spot immediately.

All Clear – Just Lobster Pots

After a thorough search, rescuers confirmed there was no body. What looked like a person was actually lobster pots floating in the sea. All teams have since stood down.
