A grim start to Christmas Day on the Isle of Wight, as Pier Street in Ventnor remains cordoned off under heavy police guard. Emergency services, including police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance, rushed to the scene just after midnight.

A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police spokesperson confirmed a probe is underway following the man’s death. “Officers were called just after midnight. An investigation has been launched after a man died following an incident in Pier Street, Ventnor,” they said.
