Man Dies After Falling from A1M Bridge in Early Morning Tragedy
A 73-year-old man has tragically died after falling from a bridge over the A1M southbound early on Wednesday morning (27 April).
Disturbing Scene on A1M Between Junctions 35 and 36
At 5.10am, police were called amid concerns for the man’s safety as he was spotted on the wrong side of the railings over the motorway between Junctions 35 and 36. Moments later, he fell from the bridge and died at the scene.
Police Hunt Third Vehicle Witnessing the Fall
Officers have identified two vehicles passing under the bridge at the time. They have recovered them but are still searching for the driver of a white van, described as a Ford Transit Custom-type, who also drove under the bridge at exactly 5.10am.
“The driver of the van is not in any trouble and has not committed any offence, but it’s important we speak to them about this incident,” said Roads Policing Officer PC Will Lane.
“They’d have been travelling southbound on the A1M, passing Junction 36 in Warmsworth, Doncaster, at 5.10am on Wednesday.”
Appeal for Witnesses and Dash Cam Footage
PC Lane thanked those who have already come forward with information and dash cam footage, stressing that any more help would be invaluable for their enquiries.
If you were driving the white Ford Transit-style van or know who was, police urge you to come forward.
