Police Crack Down on Rural Crime Near Edenbridge
Police have stepped up their game to tackle rural crime around Edenbridge. Suspicious vehicles on quiet country roads are now under heavy scrutiny.
Ramped-Up Patrols Snare Poachers and Rule-Breakers
Between August 25 and 26, officers from the Rural Task Force and Sussex Police hit multiple spots near Edenbridge and across the Surrey border. They stopped several cars and trucks, seizing two vehicles—including a Nissan Cabstar linked to suspected poaching.
Drugs were also found during searches. One driver got a fixed penalty notice, while another was reported for possession. Meanwhile, various motorists faced reports for driving with no insurance, no MOT, or no road tax.
Intelligence Boost and Multiple Arrests
Checks in Cowden, Hever, Hartfield, and Crockham Hill helped police gather vital intelligence on suspect vehicles.
A man and a woman were arrested on offences outside Kent and handed over to the Metropolitan Police.
Police Warn Offenders: “You’re Always Being Watched”
Police Sergeant Robbie Cooke said: “We regularly patrol quieter roads where criminals think they can sneak about unnoticed. Our checks happen at different spots and times to keep offenders guessing.”
“Even when arrests aren’t made, the intelligence collected is key to stopping theft and burglary. Plus, we make sure drivers are sticking to road laws and have the right licences—especially for carrying scrap metal. Those who don’t could lose their vehicles.”
