Scummy Scrounger Posing as Homeless Preys on Isle of Wight’s Vulnerable
An unnamed bloke on the Isle of Wight has been caught red-handed exploiting kind-hearted locals. Instead of being homeless, he’s raking in a staggering £1,000 a week begging from the island’s elderly and vulnerable – and even chucking away food kindly bought for him!
His scam nets him around £52,000 a year before tax. But after a long day pretending to be down and out, he reportedly heads back to a “reasonable property” and moves on to other towns to try his luck again. Regular spots include outside Costa Coffee and McDonald’s.
Don’t be fooled if he comes sniffing for cash. Tell him exactly what you think!
Genuine Homeless Furious at Fake Beggar
A real homeless man living on Newport’s streets for three years slammed the scammer, saying:
“It’s not right that somebody who isn’t homeless could exploit people like this. The only reason I ask for money is so I can eat, not for any other reason at all. I don’t ask for any more than I need. So it’s wrong if there’s someone doing that.”
Police Urge Caution: Don’t Feed the Scammers
Island police are warning the public not to hand over money to beggars indiscriminately.
- Some truly need help.
- Others are professional con artists preying on goodwill.
Instead of giving cash on the street, donate to charities and local organisations that support genuine homeless people.
