Search Teams Scour Coastline Throughout the Night
Police, Coastguard crews, and Dorset Search and Rescue have combed the cliffs and coastline since the early hours. Liam’s car was found parked on Durlston Road near Durlston Country Park. Some of his climbing gear was spotted about a mile west of Anvil Point.
Authorities Appeal for Witnesses
Chief Inspector Bob Acaster said:
“Liam told his partner he was going climbing for the day but never came back. We believe he did head out alone and we fear he may have suffered an accident.
“He might have been deep water climbing — a risky technique where climbers lower themselves down cliffs with ropes and climb back up unaided. We urge anyone who saw a man climbing around Swanage or near Durlston Road to come forward.”
Liam is described as white, slim build, 5ft 9in tall, with ginger hair and blue eyes.
Partner Thanks Rescue Crews and Public
Emily Brown, Liam’s long-term partner, praised the emergency services and the community for their support. She said:
“I’m on my way back to Southampton with my car and Liam’s things. Thanks for all your kind words and for sharing information about Liam. The coastguard is still searching tonight, but sadly it seems unlikely he will return.”
