Gabrielle Hutchinson, 23, has died in hospital early on Monday, 19 December, marking the second fatality linked to the chaotic events at O2 Brixton Academy last Thursday. Gabrielle was working as a contracted security handler at the event.
Police Launch Major Investigation After Deadly Crowd Crush
Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove, the Lambeth and Southwark policing commander, expressed sorrow: “It is devastating news that a second person has lost their life following the events on Thursday. I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to Gabrielle’s family at this unimaginably difficult time.”
The Met’s Specialist Crime Command is digging deep to uncover the full story. Officers are painstakingly reviewing CCTV footage, analysing phone videos, interviewing dozens of witnesses, and conducting thorough forensic examinations. The probe will determine if any criminal offences took place.
Victims Named, Scene Still Under Scrutiny

With around 4,000 people present during the tragic incident, police are urging anyone with photos, videos, or information to come forward via the dedicated online portal.
Police first responded at 9.04pm to reports of a large crowd outside the venue. A second call came at 9.35pm reporting attempts to force entry. The situation quickly escalated into the deadly crush.
In line with protocol, the Independent Office for Police Conduct has been notified following the fatalities and serious injuries where police were present.
