Teen Girl, 17, Dies in Horror Crash Just Weeks Before 18th Birthday
Fatal Collision Near Ashford
Kent Police are hunting witnesses after a devastating crash near Ashford claimed the life of a 17-year-old girl and left three others seriously injured.
The smash happened at around 8.20pm on Saturday 4 July 2020 on Mundy Bois Road, Egerton.
Car Crashes Into Tree
A silver Suzuki Swift, carrying six people, was heading towards Egerton when it veered off the road near Kingsland Lane and slammed into a tree in a residential garden.
The teenage girl from Ashford, a passenger in the car, tragically died on the way to hospital.
Three others—a 19-year-old man, an 18-year-old man, and another 17-year-old girl—were rushed to a London hospital where they remain in serious but stable condition.
Arrests Made, Investigation Underway
Police arrested a 19-year-old man from Ashford and a 17-year-old girl from maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone, both recently discharged from hospital, on suspicion of driving offences. They remain in custody as the investigation continues.
Kent Police have also made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct because a police vehicle was near the collision at the time.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit wants anyone who saw the Suzuki Swift before the crash to come forward.
