Knife Detector at Sheerness Station Snags Drug Dealer

Swale police have nailed an alleged drug dealer following a crime crackdown at Sheerness train station. Officers from the Swale Community Police Team teamed up with British Transport Police for a high-security operation on Friday 11 October 2019.

Knife Detector and Drugs Dog on Patrol

The team set up a knife detector gate right at the platform entrance, with a drugs dog unit sniffing around. At 11.15am, a train pulled in and a man dodged both the knife scanner and the sniffer dog before quickly leaving the station.

Drugs and Cash Found in Nearby Alleyway

Police tracked the suspect to an alley off Beach Street. There, they seized nearly 70 wraps of suspected crack cocaine and heroin, two mobile phones, and around £1,200 in cash.

Man Arrested on Drug Charges

The 28-year-old from Sheerness was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. He’s now released on bail, due back for questioning on Tuesday 22 October 2019.
