Bottle Smash Horror: Shopkeeper Attacked in Brutal Penge Gang Assault
Shocking scenes unfolded at Kingswood Food and Wine on Penge High Street when a shopkeeper was viciously attacked with a bottle during an attempted theft. Police have now released footage of the suspect and are urgently hunting the culprit.
Violent Attack Over Stolen Booze
The incident happened just after 9pm on Tuesday, 14 August. A man entered the store with three children aged between six and 12. He tried to walk out with alcohol he hadn’t paid for. When a staff member confronted him, the suspect snapped.
He smashed a bottle over the shopkeeper’s head and face, causing injuries that needed hospital treatment. Thankfully, they were minor.
Suspect on the Run – Police Issue Descriptions
The attacker is described as a bald black man in his 40s, wearing a black t-shirt with a white logo, black jeans, and carrying a sports shop carrier bag. Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who recognizes him.
“This man launched a violent attack on an innocent man trying to protect his store and prevent a theft,” said DC Kelly Cretten of Bromley Police.
