Twitter was flooded with frantic messages from shoppers describing the chaos. One tweeted: “Just ran out of Bluewater, about 60 ppl screaming bomb saw my life flash before my eyes.” The terrifying scenes turned out to be a false alarm triggered by a faulty oven.

Emergency Services Confirm False Alarm

After the evacuation, emergency crews quickly confirmed the incident was caused by a cooking appliance fault, not an explosion or bomb threat. Kent Police urged calm on social media:

“Please remain calm. The situation at Bluewater was caused by a faulty cooking appliance at Nando’s. No further danger.”

Shoppers have since been allowed to return inside the popular Kent retail hub.
