A tragic collision on South Road in Southall has claimed a life, police confirmed today.
Fatal Smash Shuts Down Key Road
Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly before 11:45am on Tuesday following reports of a serious crash near Southall train station. The Metropolitan Police shut South Road in both directions while investigators combed the wreckage.
Despite frantic efforts by paramedics, one person died at the scene. Their identity remains unknown, and police have yet to reveal if others were hurt.
Massive Traffic Chaos as Road Closed for Hours
South Road stayed shut for over six hours, sparking major delays on Southall Broadway and Merrick Road. TfL buses on routes 105, 120, 195, 482, E5, and H32 were forced onto lengthy diversions, leaving commuters stranded.
Local Councillor Issues Warning
John Martin, Norwood Green councillor, called the crash “serious” and urged locals to avoid the area.
“Due to a serious accident on South Road earlier today there are road closures in the area to allow the Met Police to investigate. Please also note that TfL buses are on diversion therefore please find an alternative route.”
Police Hunt Witnesses to Deadly Crash
The Met Police have launched a probe into what caused the fatal collision. They’re appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from 11:30am to noon to step forward and assist their inquiries.
