Speeding Fines Slap Gets Wretchedly Tougher From Monday!

Speed demons beware! From Monday 24th April 2017, speeding fines shoot sky-high. Magistrates and district judges must follow new brutal sentencing guidelines — no excuses.

Massive Fines Linked to Your Income

The biggest shock? Fines will now be calculated based on your weekly income. Serious offenders caught zooming over the limit will face penalties starting at a staggering 150% of their weekly wage — up from the old 100% cap.

If you’re caught doing 41mph+ in a 20mph zone or hitting 101mph on a 70mph motorway, expect a fine that punches a serious hole in your wallet. The fines come in bands:

  • Band A: 50% of weekly income
  • Band B: 100% of weekly income
  • Band C: 150%, with possible increase to 175%

Not Just Fines — Points and Bans Too!

If the fines weren’t bad enough, speeders will also face penalty points on their licence or even disqualification. The new rules hit 27 offences, from speeding to serious sexual and drug crimes, aiming to clamp down hard on lawbreakers.

So, do the maths: speed recklessly, pay the price — and the price just got sky-high.
